Coffee Conversations (2013)
It is in coffee houses that many revolutions have been sparked off. The conversation around a cup of coffee shared between open minds provides opportunity for mass action based on ideals and projections of what the future must become.
“Coffee fuelled the information exchanges of the 17th and 18th centuries”
The headlines chosen from key Kenyan newspapers represent the Kenya we want.
The three canvas move from left to right, the colours depicting the transition of day from morning, afternoon to evening.
The hand print represents the presence of human interaction as so the print stains from the coffee and tea cups. The person having the conversations has it within themselves to create the Kenya they foresee.
Acrylic on canvas with newspaper print and permanent marker.
Painting completed for Pete’s Coffee Shop, Bishop Magua House, Ngong Road.
