Listen to the Youth (2012)

A discussion on the “Arab Spring” and its origins with specific reference to the fall of Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi in Libya at the hands of “youth.”

This painting follows on the implication of Western influence on the capture and killing of Colonel Gaddafi.

The white lines at the bottom of the painting represent the marching of peacekeepers with a promise of firepower and the eventual imprisonment of the Libya forces as the once successful country continues to spiral into localised inter-family, intra-clan conflicts.

This discussion calls into question who we are actually listening to when we “listen” to the youth.
