Basil Davidson’s books offer an Africanist perspective on Africa. He offers a highly objective perspective on colonialism and African nationalism.

This video focuses on what brought about the call for independence on the African continent. It begins with Ghana and Kwame Nkrumah’s entrance into argument for African nationalism. It also looks at the other colonies e.g. Zimbabwe and Kenya (particularly interesting). Davidson also touches on Algeria – Kenya’s and Mozambique’s ally in the war for independence.
